Minimum qualification requirements for all GBMAA Instructors

To help ensure that all of the Great Britain Martial Arts Academies provide their students with the best possible service, every Academy holds an individual licence with the Great Britain Martial Arts Association that includes:

Adherence to the Nationally Recognised standard of the Great Britain Martial Arts Association.
Adherence to Health and Safety practices in full accordance with the current Health and Safety at Work legislation and that a valid Risk Assessment for the activities being undertaken are available for the general public to view.
Implementation of a Fire Safety policy that includes fire prevention methods, fire safety checks and staff training in both fire safety and monthly evacuation procedure.
Implementation of a First Aid policy, ensuring that all staff members are first aid trained by a recognised, GBMAA authorised training body. This qualification is to be current for all staff and must be renewed biannually.
Ensuring that all instructors have successfully passed a Criminal Record Check within the last 2 years and are ALL certified and cleared to work with Children and Vulnerable groups. This includes the mandatory attendance and successful completion of the GBMAA Child Protection course and full adherence to the GBMAA Child Protection Policy.

In addition to the GBMAA licence, all GBMAA Instructors and Trainee Instructors must have completed, or be in the process of completing, the GBMAA Certified Instructors Training Course.

This course is Britain’s most comprehensive Martial Arts instructors’ course, including Teaching Practices, Exercise Physiology, Sport Psychology and Business and Finance, all of which help to ensure that our instructors are able to consistently provide the best possible service to all of their students and that every Academy is able to remain open throughout the year.
