Kickboxing The GBMAA’s Kickboxing syllabus was written by its Principle Instructor, Master Curtis Page. The syllabus covers a wide range of hand, leg and jumping techniques, including combinations, pad-work, set-pieces and sparring (optional). The syllabus taught at the Academies is the same as Master Page teaches to the legendary Predators Fighting Team (the top fighting team of the Great Britain Martial Arts Academy), the world famous GBMAA Elite (made up from the best fighters from across the entire Great Britain Martial Arts Association) and even Team England. Split into a beginners programme, designed to introduce you to the Martial Arts, and an advanced programme that will take you all the way up to Black Belt and beyond, the GBMAA’s Kickboxing courses can be easily tailored to suit your needs. Whether you’re looking for a fun fitness programme, an effective means of Self-Defence, or if you wish to make a name for yourself in the Sports Martial Arts arena, Kickboxing could be just what you’re looking for. |

Weapons The GBMAA teaches a wide range of different weapons in both traditional, practical styles (such as from the Kung Fu) and demonstration styles (such as with Xtreme Martial Arts). The four main weapons taught at the Academies are knife, bo staff, kamas and nunchucks. Other weapons include the Chinese Broadsword, Lau Staff and Katana. Knife defence is becoming increasingly important in this day and age, hence its inclusion within our Academy syllabus. Students will be taught a range of different defences against the knife and similar edged weapons, as well as basic (and as a separate course, more advanced) First Aid, so that they may help victims of knife attacks and even save themselves should they fall victim to such an attack. Our demonstrations weapons can be used to perform at shows, events and even in Weapon Forms competitions. The GBMAA’s performance team, PredatorsX, is the countries top Martial Arts demonstration team, all of whom perform in weapons, open hand and team form categories. Forms/Martial Gymnastics Fantastic for anyone that wants to compete, but doesn’t like sparring, the GBMAA’s Forms and Martial Gymnastics programme teaches students a wide variety of Extreme Kicks and Xtreme Martial Arts (XMA) forms that they can perform at demonstrations, events and, of course, at competitions. This system is also very popular with our younger members, giving them a programme that is both fun to learn and gives them an excellent chance to showcase their skills to their friends, family and crowds of spectators. When being judged at competitions, technique and attitude is everything. As a result, a lot of parents are keen to see their children develop this kind of focus. The GBMAA’s performance team, PredatorsX, is the countries top Martial Arts demonstration team, all of whom perform in weapons, open hand and team form categories. Self-Defence We have always said that success, even competitive success, within the Martial Arts is nothing if you are unable to effectively defend yourself in a true physical confrontation. To that end, all of the programmes taught by the GBMAA include a practical Self-Defence curriculum. This ranges from simple block and counter drills practiced within classes, to three hour Self-Defence courses on knife defence. |
